In 2015, Kasey and Asia Cather went on their very first date at the Beachcomber Cafe. Little did they know, that moment would set the stage for a journey that would span across the globe and back. Over the years, they traveled far and wide, living and working abroad in some of the world’s most prestigious service industries, including the Four Seasons. Their experiences abroad enriched their lives, but no matter where they went, their hearts always pulled them back to Humboldt and the dream of opening their very own cafe.

In April 2023, they made that dream a reality when they purchased the Beachcomber Cafe. With a vision in mind and a lot of hard work ahead, Kasey, Asia, and their families rolled up their sleeves and poured blood, sweat, and tears into the cafe’s remodel. Just a month later, they reopened the doors of the Beachcomber, welcoming the community back into a fresh, new space that still held the heart and charm of the original.

From the very beginning, their vision for the cafe has been rooted in family. They dreamt of a place where they could work just across the street from the school their future children would someday attend. In April 2024, their dream took another step forward with the arrival of their daughter, further inspiring them to build a community-driven space that feels like home.

Today, the Beachcomber Cafe continues to evolve—its story unfolding with each cup of coffee and every shared meal. For Kasey and Asia, the cafe is not just a business; it’s a work in progress, a space where family, warmth, and nostalgia are always at the heart of everything they do. They’re committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels like part of the family.
